Hannah & James in Eastbourne.

Hannah and James chose the most unique of settings to get married setting. The Hertsmonceux Observatory and Science Centre down in East Sussex. I had no idea what to expect at all, I’d never been before and was so excited to find out what this place had in store!

I was not let down in the least! I felt like I was on some kind of strange episode of Dr Who! – it was fantastic!

The observatory itself was a bit of a squeeze but I’ll never forget as Hannah walked in beside her Dad, all the guests began to sing The Beatles ‘All you need is love’ –  the lyrics were printed for everyone (I didn’t realize this at the time)! It was just the most wonderful thing!

Hannah looked absolutely stunning in her vintage 50’s iconic style dress ‘Mark Lesley Couture’, shoes from the stunning Brighton designer Irregular Choice. Beautifully finished with a necklace and diamond bracelet given to Hannah by her parents and a head piece from Dotty Chic. James wore a grey three piece from ‘Slaters’.  I think James would agree how stunning Hannah looked as I managed to capture him wiping a tear from his eye when he caught a glimpse of his wife to be! I love catching those in between moments!

The location represented a very special day out, especially for the smaller guests, so many things to look at and play with. We even all looked at the sun through a special telescope with an expert on hand to tell us all about the planets, while the champagne was served!

The style of the day was just too hard for me to explain without the input from Hannah, here’s how she describes it:

“We wanted our guests to have a good time and so we settled on the Observatory for two reasons. We love a bit of sci-fi (and had our first date at the science museum) and we felt if offered lots of interesting things for our guests to do.

When we investigated the venue and started to recce the tower, we realised it was built in the 50’s and that the architect had really wanted the towers to look good rather than be too utilitarian – I love 50’s fashion so we felt it was a good way to bring in a few loves….And the beards….

James’ nick-name is King Beard and hey, it made us laugh!”

Food and drinks were all served in some really cool and sci fi like domes , where the speeches all took place and the band played, but the coolest part was that nobody was told about the first dance…It just happened unannounced and Hannah and James enjoyed their moment with no pressure and no attentive audience! – I for one think that’s romance at its best!

Three cheers for Hannah & James!!
